Archeological finds on the territory of Virovitica testify to the existence of human settlements in the area since prehistoric times, through Roman times, all the way to late Middle Ages.

All exhibits originate from the area of Virovitica, encompassing the period from early Stone Age to the late Middle Ages.

Stone tools and weapons finds; pottery or vessels dating back to the late Stone Age, may help us reconstruct the prehistoric man's life and culture.

A considerable part of the holdings referrs to the Urn fields culture -the virovitica group from the late Bronze Age: various cups, vessels, and urns, as well as rather scarce bronze items: Needles, a dagger. A typical incineration tomb has been reconstructed with urn positioned in the middle and various vessels scattered around it.

Roman finds come mostly from the "Dvorina" site in Orosac: They are all superficial finds, because the site is already highly threatened. Exhibited are: Glass paste jewelry, reconstructed ceramic vessels, frescos, a mosaic, metal coins, keys, bells, and the like. We should like to single out an accidental discovery of small glass vessels from Virovitica. Here, we should also add a Roman house scale model.

From the period of the Croats' arrival to this region and the establishment of their state, we could mention the Avar/Slavonic sword, ceramic vessels, and small metal letter S-shaped chain-links.
