The Varazdin Municipal Museum occupies four monumental facilities at the most narrow town centre, their total surface-area amounting to 5,190 m².

This Baroque palace seats: The newly arranged Old Masters Collection from the Old & Contemporary Masters Gallery on permanent display (reopened in 1994); the Old & Contemporary Masters Gallery storeroom, the Archeological Department, the said departments curators' offices, a photo-lab, ceramics & metal conservation workshop, and accessory premises. The Historic Department's holdings and its curator's office are also temporarily located at the building.

The Gothic/Renaissance fortification called "Stari grad" (the Old Town) that was last redecorated in the 1983-1989 period seats: The Cultural and Historic Department's permanent collection; the Cultural and Historic, and the Ethnographic Departments' storerooms and curators' offices.

The early Classicist Herzer Palace, which is currently undergoing a thorough reconstruction, seats storerooms and the Entomological Department curators' offices. The Department's permanent collection will soon be reopened. The Palace's remaining premises are currently being prepared to host the entire Historic Department.

Strossmayerovo setaliste 7

The Old Town's medieval watchtower reconstructed in 1996 seats the Museum's Common Affairs Department, as well as offices of the Cultural/Historic and Ethnographic Departments' curators. The tower's ground-floor area is used for small-scale exhibitions.
