The Gallery owns two valuable 18th c. Venetian
panoramas. They are rightfully attributed to the school of the
famous Venetian master Antonio Giovanni Canalle called Canaletto.
He was painting Venetian, Rome, and London panoramas using precise
application of perspective and accurate details reproduction.
His panoramas always include human figures dressed in clothes
characteristic of the period. They have a certain realism to them,
as well as a unique atmosphere, and include high quality drawings.
His capriccios (vedute ideate) are the fruit of imagination
achieved by good association of subjects. He is also the author
of a number of etchings also presenting panoramas.
