A model of the Soviet orbital station Saljut, to which the spaceship Sojuz was joined, was made in 1974 by Dimitrije Barb from Zagreb to the scale of 1:10. Saljut-1, the first orbital station of its kind, was launched on 19 April, 1971. It hosted only one human crew (for 22 days), who was involved in a tragic accident upon its return to the Earth. Total mass of the Saljut orbital station, together with the spaceship Sojuz that was joined to it, amounts to over 25,000 kilogrammes. The station was circling around the Earth for six months. |
