Sarcophagus of Hippolytus and Phedra
At the front, the sarcophagus features a depiction of the Hippolytus and Phedra myth: To the left is Phedra surrounded by her maids, with Hippolytus receiving a love letter in the middle. To be seen on the right side is the grieved Theseus. Depicted on the sides is a naked youth with a horse and a spear in his hand, and a philosopher with a scroll. copyright (c) Carnet & MDC |
