EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Varina Jurica is in charge of the educational activities. Apart from guided tours, the Museum also organizes educational workshops for choldren

Educational workshop for children: Arrow to the Target

The educational workshop for children Arrow to the Target started on the occasion of the 2001 International Museum Day and the museum game Let’s Get Stronger. Due to a great interest of the public, the workshop will continue in the future. An exposition on the making of bows and arrows accompanied the workshop.

A House

A Mediaeval House We Build - a museum educational workshop for children on the occasion of the 2002 International Museum Day
Building a house of twigs, straw, and wood as it was done in the Middle Ages
An educational museum workshop A Mediaeval House We Build was organized as a part of the prize game A House. Aided by professional guidance, competitors built a house as they would have done in the Middle Ages and from natural materials, such as wood, twigs, straw, and mud. The aim was to present the mediaeval way of house building, without modern civilizational and technical aids.

A Chivalrous Tournament

In 2001 the Museum organized a chivalrous tournament for the first time. This historical event allows visitors to take an active part in the programme, which tries to revive episodes from the mediaeval life of the area.

The events take place closely before the Great Peasants’ Revolt and the central event is A Chivalrous Tournament, a knights' competition of horseback riding.

The programme encompasses a series of other cultural and tourist attractions, all aiming to give visitors an insight into the life and customs of the late Middle Ages.

The employees of the Krapina-Zagorje County Tourist Board also participate actively in the project. The funds are collected thanks to many donors and sponsors and it manages to attract a great number of viewers.

We are especially glad to note active participation of the local population.

The tournament was held for the second time on 7th July 2002.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • The commemoration of the Peasants’ Revolt, i.e. The Battle of Stubica
Every year on 9th February, the Museum participates, through various activities, in the commemoration of the Battle of Stubica. In 2002, the Mountaineering Society Stubaki, the Municipality of Stubičke Toplice, and the Stubičke Toplice Tourist Board started the action called From Galežnjak to Kapelščak in a Single Step. A footpath to Galežnjak and Kapelšcak was open for the occasion, and the Museum took part in it with the Arrow to the Target educational workshop for children.
  • The Museum organizes lectures and
discussion panels on various subjects, for example the Protection of Cultural Goods in the Krapina-Zagorje County.
