The Twin Muses project originally started in Italy as a series of exhibitions in 28 Italian cities but museums from eight other European countries, including Croatia, eventually joined in. The project was conceived as a dialogue between different generations of artists and represented as a series of multimedia exhibitions of young artists’ works inspired by the works included in the collections of the museum they exhibited in, thus creating a link between contemporary art and the cultural heritage of each participant country.
Financial support for the Gemine Muse 2004 project: The European Commission under the Culture 2000 Programme.
The works of three young artists from Croatia, Italy and France, inspired by Ivan Meštrović’s works were on exhibition in the Meštrović Gallery in Split (2nd December 2004 – 5th January 2005). Viktor Popović (1972, Split) was represented with an untitled work consisting of ladies’ and men’s underwear, a reference to Meštrović’s sculptures Eve and Adam. Graziano Vignolo (1981, Genoa) was the author of a multimedia installation Lamenti incatenati inspired by Meštrović's sculpture Job and Guillaume Ségur (1978, Lyon) performed an actual walk through the permanent display of the museum and launched it on www.actualwalk.com

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia financially supported the country's participation in the Gemine Muse 2004 project.
