The ship hull with a vertically cut bow is dark grey. The vessel has a high, open captain's bridge painted white and a superstructure. In the middle of the bridge tower is a dark grey funnel bearing the initials UR (Unione Raguseo). Next to the funnel there are six cowls which provide natural ventilation, with 19 more arranged along the deck. In the ship's well there are two crossed and hooked coal cranes that are driven by means of steam winches situated next to them. The steamer has two masts without sails. At the stern there is an Austro-Hungarian flag. On the deck 13 crew members can be seen. In the foreground there is a small pilot boat accompanying the steamer. The dull green sea is gently ruffled, and the sky covered by grey clouds. Visible on the horizon to the right is a rocky shore and several smaller and larger sailing ships. The picture has a gold frame, and is placed on a stretcher.
