The chest is partitioned off into the front and back compartment, and these into a series of smaller compartments. Medicines are kept in appropriate containers: volatile drugs in small tin boxes, powders and liquids in glass phials with cut stoppers, tea and herbs in cardboard boxes. All boxes are empty. Under the back partition is a secret compartment that is pulled open by means of a small loop. The chest is made of finely polished wood. It is reinforced on four edges with metal leaves and has a fine lock.
