...under the command of Captain M. Buric, 1796
A large brown and black sailing vessel with a small figurehead in the bow representing a woman's figure. One can see the lifted anchor, an auxiliary boat and five members of the ship crew. The vessels is sailing under full canvas. Its foremast and mainmast have three square sails. The first mainmast sail is furled, and one is a stay-sail. At the bow are two jibs. The mizzen mast has tow square sails and a gaffsail. At the stern, a white St. Blasius flag is flapping. In the left corner is an open sheet of paper with a partly damaged inscription of which the following words can be read: "...CAP.MICHELE BURICH 1796". Colour is subdued. The sails are painted white and grey on a colourless background, and the waves are shaded blue. Yet, the painting is dynamic - the vessel is sailing under full canvas cutting the waves with its bow.
